Most research conducted on Javanese culture mainly comes from the anthropological and sociological perspectives alone, without considering business perspective. This concern becoming more important due to the business paradox in Indonesia, where the annual data of the Indonesia’s richest are dominated by other ethnics, and left the Javanese – the major ethnic – simply as the observer of the other ethnic success. Since Indonesian independence, countless of conflicts among Indonesian ethnicities were triggered by the jealousy to the business performance of another ethnic group. Specific in studying business performance, cross-cultural studies investigating the business-related values of the Javanese and other ethnicities in Indonesia are crucial, as well as investigating their leadership characteristics.
